Setting Borders and Cropping

- In Multi-filter mode, the "By Filter" settings will be based on the latest filter selected.

Custom Filters

Saving - Format
Images can be saved by clicking the "Save" button and then selecting a file name and file path. CameraBag can open most image formats including .jpg, .png, and .bmp. CameraBag will save the filtered image using the original file format if it can, otherwise it will save it as a .jpg file. The file format can be changed when saving by adding the appropriate extension to the file name.

Saving - Resolution
By default, CameraBag will save images at their original resolution, but they can also be saved at various smaller sizes. These sizes can be selected from the "Output size" drop down menu.

Batch Saving
An entire folder of photos can be filtered using the same CameraBag settings. To do this:
- Open an image from within the folder that you would like to batch process.
- With that photo open, make the modifications (filters, borders, reprocess, size, etc) that you want for this set of photos.
- Click "Batch Process Folder" in the "More" drop down menu.
- Specify the appended file ending for your modified images, if desired. For example, if you specify "_edit", "image1.jpg" and "image2.jpg" become "image1_edit.jpg" and "image2_edit.jpg".
- In the save dialog box, select the folder in which you would like to save the modified images.
- Run the batch.

Cropping
Cropping can be disabled, specifically defined, or set to match the last border selected (use "By Filter") with the "Cropping" drop down menu.

Borders
Borders can disabled, specifically defined, or set to match the last border selected (use "By Filter") with the "Borders" drop down menu.

Rotation
Images can be rotated at 90 degree intervals to the left or right using the "Left" and "Right" buttons at the top of the screen (or the L and R keys).

Reprocessing
Reprocess brings back some of the magic and serendipity of film processing. Click the "Reprocess" button (or spacebar) to create a subtle variation of the filters. The Reprocess button will create an additional variation each time the button is pressed. Select "OFF" to return to the default CameraBag style. To save a given Reprocess setting, select "Save to Custom" from the "Custom" drop down menu.

CameraBag Filters
CameraBag filters are accessible via the square buttons along the bottom of the application window. Each button will display a preview of the filter it represents. The filters available are:

- Original: This clears all other filters and returns the image to its original state
- Helga: Square-format toy camera with washed-out highlights and old-school vignetting
- Lolo: Shoot from the hip and take life as it comes with vibrant, colorful shots
- Mono: Smooth, refined, balanced black and white
- Silver: From the earliest days of photography, when taking a shot was a much bigger production than it is now
- 1962: Dynamic, high-contrast black and white from the photojournalism of a bygone era
- 1974: Your father's camera: faded, tinted, and hip
- Instant: No need to shake this instant-developing film
- Magazine: Rich tones for glossy pages
- Cinema: Dramatic, moody coloring with a widescreen aspect ratio
- Colorcross: Hazy, chemical color-swapping straight from the darkroom

Multi-Filtering
When the "Multi-filter" checkbox is activated, CameraBag will apply filters on top of one another as additional filters are selected. To unselect a filter, simply click the filter button again.

Custom Filters
- In addition to the standard CameraBag filters, users can save and access custom filters. These filters are combinations of standard filters and a given reprocessing setting.
- To access the custom filters, click on the "Custom" drop down at the top of the screen and select the desired filter from the list or use the up-arrow and down-arrow keys to cycle through the list.
- To save a new custom filter select "Save to Custom" from the "Custom" drop down menu.
- Custom filters are saved as .cbf files in a folder next to the CameraBag application. These files can be accessed by clicking "Edit in File Browser" from the "Custom" drop down menu. The custom filter files can easily be shared by copying from and adding files to this folder. Files added to this folder will automatically show up in the custom drop down menu.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my photo look different this time around using the same filter?
CameraBag allows for some of the random variability and serendipity built into film processing using the "Reprocess" button. When "Reprocess" is set to "On" the look will vary slightly. When "Reprocess" is set to "Off" each filter will look the same each time it's used.

How does "Reprocess" work?
Reprocessing in CameraBag attempts to match the natural variation at play in various photography styles (represented by the various filters) with a range of potential outcomes. Each time you click "Reprocess" the variations produced will be noticeable, but never outside the filter's style. While the theoretic variations are infinite, try clicking "Reprocess" five or so times with a given filter set to get a good feel for the range of outcomes you can expect.

How does "Reprocess" work with multiple filters?
When "Reprocess" is set to "On" and the "Multi-filter" checkbox is activated, variations will come through from each of the filters. The changes will likely be more dramatic than with a single filter selected.

How can I save multiple photos using the same filter set?
There are two methods for saving multiple images with the same filter set:
1. Once certain filters have been selected, those selections (and any "Reprocess" variations) will remain after an image has been saved and a new image has been loaded. This allows for quickly saving multiple images with the same look and feel.
2. An entire folder of photos can be saved with the same CameraBag settings by opening an image in the given folder, clicking "Batch Process Folder" in the "More" drop down menu and following the prompts.

What happens to a filtered image when a new image is selected for editing?
CameraBag supports editing a single photo at any given time. When a new image is selected the previous image is automatically closed. The original file will remain in its original location as well as any saved files in their selected save locations.

How do I undo an action in CameraBag?
Because of the straightforward nature of the CameraBag interface, there is no formal undo function. To undo a filtering action, you can either deselect the last filter selected ("Multi-filter" activated) or select the previous filter ("Multi-filter" not activated). To clear all filters, click "Original."

Why does CameraBag load with the last settings used?
Because users often edit photos with similar settings, CameraBag will always load with the borders, cropping, output size, and multi-filter preferences from previous sessions.

What file types can I edit using CameraBag?
CameraBag can open most image formats including .jpg, .png, or .bmp. CameraBag will save the filtered image using the original file format if it can, otherwise it will save it as a .jpg file. The file format can be changed when saving by adding the appropriate extension to the file name.

Why are the filters available on CameraBag Desktop different from the filters available on the iPhone or iPad?
There are two main reasons that filters will vary among applications, although there may be others. 1) At Nevercenter we have tried to carefully cultivate the best filter sets. Sometimes that means getting rid of infrequently used or unwanted filters as well as adding new ones. 2) Occasionally we will test the release of a filter in one place before it is available elsewhere.
