  1. Hi everyone! Just a quick installer update--if you were having trouble (missing DLL errors) when trying to install CameraBag 2.7 on your Windows computer, we just updated the installer with something that should resolve the issue. The new installer is live from http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/desktop (click the Download button at the top of the page). This was an issue that just happened on a handful of Windows systems, so we really appreciate everyone who wrote in. Thanks especially to CameraBag user Grant for working with us to get us the detailed data we needed! *Note that this is NOT an app update, just an installer update that makes sure the files for these specific systems are installed--so if you already have v2.7.02, you already have the latest version.
  2. Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know about the CameraBag & Fotograf Updates newsletter, which you can sign up for at http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/newsletter/ and never miss a beat. We make a point to try to put in good content and not over-send. For example, we recently sent out a user survey to the list to get feedback on who is using CameraBag and what directions they would like the software to go in. We've also sent out updates when new Fotograf filters are available for download, or when we have a new release or update for CameraBag Photo, CameraBag Cinema, or Fotograf. Question for you here on the forum: what kind of content would YOU like to hear about through the newsletter?
  3. Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that the latest version of the CameraBag Cinema beta is up and free to download from http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/forum/index.php?/topic/93-camerabag-cinema-beta-h/ We're getting really close to release and this one could be the last beta! We'd love to hear how it works on your system (still Mac-only for now), and any other feedback before it goes out to meet the world. We appreciate your help!
  4. Hello everyone! An update to CameraBag Cinema (v1.0.51) is now ready. Get it on the site at http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/cinema/download or via the Mac App Store. These are the updates you'll see since v1.0.103 (the last version we posted about on here): - Added hardware-accelerated decoding support for R3D files. - Added tabs for loading multiple files simultaneously. - Added split-screen multi-pane views. - Added pixel inspector. - Added recent pixels in the pixel info window. - Fixed a bug with LUT export. - Other bug fixes and speed improvements. As always, all .x upgrades are free, and you can see what's new in each update to CameraBag Cinema from http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/cinema/whats_new/ Love to hear your thoughts!
  5. Hey all! Just wanted to let you know that we've recently added four new videos to the CameraBag Cinema playlist: "Color Matching", "Designing a day-to-night filter", "Batch converting and color grading", "Using the same filtering on photos and videos". You can get the entire playlist at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBJ9U0NYh_HiscXzjnBDsgoaBO3fejHVg
  6. Hi all! Wanted to share just a quick peek from the dev room to keep you all in the loop. We'll try to keep posting here frequently with micro updates with what we're working on. We've been hard at work on CameraBag for a good while, getting our hands in everything including some interesting new features. We're also always working on bug fixes (of course--thanks everyone for the reports here) and currently on some interface responsiveness/feedback. And speaking of feedback, we're interested in starting a list of some beta testers to try out these new features. Any takers?

Hi everyone! We made something new. It's actually a tool we've been using internally for a while, but we thought it's something that could be useful to lots of people, so we're hoping to bring it to a finalized state in a couple of months. BUT, in order to do that, we need some help. So we set up a Kickstarter (first time trying that) and we're trying to get the word out to see if there is enough interest for us to make it happen. We'd love it if you'd check it out: http://kck.st/2nEY7wQ (Plus bonus: see the ever-elusive Tom actually on-camera.) If you have thoughts on ways to get the word out, thoughts on Pixelmash itself, or other comments, we'd love to hear them! If you want Pixelmash to become a reality and want to back it on Kickstarter, thanks! If you know people in game design or pixel art or who you just generally think would be interested, we'd appreciate any connections you can make. And no, this is in no way replacing or diminishing CameraBag work and progress. Just something additional we'd love to be able to add to the mix. Love to hear your thoughts!
  8. We just applied elsewhere, but for anyone else happening on this thread, it's coming! Still in dev but coming. Make sure you don't miss it by signing up for the updates newsletter at http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/newsletter/

    Plugin for Premier

Hi Valentin! Thanks for your interest in the plugin--it's still in development but we're working on some related things now and hope to get it out soon! We'll make sure to post here as soon as it's ready. Also, if you haven't signed up yet, this is definitely an update that will go out via the CameraBag Updates newsletter at http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/newsletter/

    CameraBag on SurfacePro

We've already sent out emails about it, but I wanted to update here, too: I'm happy to report that this bug has been fixed! Download the latest version via http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/photo (or Mac App Store/Steam Store if you picked it up there) and the interface should be displayed properly. Thanks for the reports of this so we knew about it!

Bad SCALING on 15 inch 4k display

We've already sent out emails about it, but I wanted to update here, too: I'm happy to report that this bug has been fixed! Download the latest version via http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/photo (or Mac App Store/Steam Store if you picked it up there) and the interface should be displayed properly. Thanks for the reports of this so we knew about it!
  13. We've had a few individuals write in about this--and we'd love to hear what other underwater photographers/videographers do. As you noted, we don't currently have a white balance tool in CameraBag, but we do have a set of color correction tools under Adjustments > Advanced Color. I dive and take some underwater photos, and I can often get the colors I want using those adjustments; of course, without additional lighting/filters there will always be some lost color as you go deep, but for the color data that is there the Advanced Color tools do a pretty good job of correcting that/pulling it out. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
  14. Huh. That is an interesting one, and this is the first report we've seen of it. Thanks for sending it in; we'll see if we can replicate the message on our systems (first step to changing it). Have you gotten this with other Steam software, as well, or just CameraBag Photo? Any other Steam CameraBag users here on the forum getting a similar message?

Cheap copies of Camera Bag Photo

Hi Pip! Thanks for writing in and sorry about the frustration. We definitely do need to continue to expand usage and, as you guessed, are looking for the best ways to do that; sales are one of the ways that we an attract new customers and get the word out so that we can continue to fund development. We certainly don't intend to hurt or anger any of our supporters and we're sorry you felt that way! We'd love to hear suggestions you may have on how we can better get the word out about CameraBag--what are your thoughts?

    Upgrade to CameraBag v3.0.1

Hi Ray, Thanks for your continued support of CameraBag! It sounds like the login confusion is because the forum is on a different system from purchases--now that you have a login here you will continue to be able to have access to the forums. (Forum membership is separate from having a license because you can be a forum member without actually owning a CameraBag license.) BUT, to your note about a discount--Doug's right in that the initial upgrade offer is over, but I happen to know that the discount code from our recent PHOTO30 sale (30% off CameraBag Photo) is still active even though it's not listed, so you are welcome to use that to bring your price down to $20. Just go to purchase, and then enter in PHOTO30 in the promo code field and click "Apply".

    CameraBag on SurfacePro

Ah, sorry--we've been following/responding to this via this thread: http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/forum/index.php?/topic/125-bad-scaling-on-15-inch-4k-display/ But yes, we did get derailed on fixing this issue and it's definitely time to do something about it. I'll see what I can do to have us get to it sooner.

    WIC error: pFactory is NULL

Hi Gideon! Sorry about the trouble--we had reports of this error previously, but then an update fixed it for the people who had reported in, and now we just got two new reports in today. Can you try downloading/installing from this link and tell us if this fixes the error for you? http://nevercenter.com/download/CameraBag_Photo_Win_3_0_1b.zip Hope to get this solved for you quickly!

    D.P.I. for enlargement

Hi Jack! Thanks for writing in. CameraBag preserves the pixel size of the images you bring in. For the best quality for your filetype, make sure your images are saved at the 100% Quality setting (in the Save dialog). If you are working with physical print sizes you will need to adjust the DPI outside of CameraBag. Because of the library we are using for EXIF support, CameraBag currently automatically sets the DPI tag to 72 on saving out. (The DPI tag doesn't actually to anything to the image file itself; it just gives directions for how it will be printed out.) Setting it to the default 72 doesn't do anything to degrade the quality of the image, and if you change the setting back to 300 in the program you print from, it will be the same as if it was exported at 300 from CameraBag. --- A bit more about DPI/PPI, if you are interested: DPI (or PPI, which is what is usually meant) on a photo is not necessarily a measurement of the digital photo file's "resolution" or "quality" in the way we often think of those terms. What determines the quality is the pixel count of the image file and the display/print size of the image. In fact, using DPI/PPI to resize images for display will often give poor quality images. The best way to have a high-resolution image is to have enough pixels for the desired image size. (And a printer/display to handle it.) In this way, PPI is a sort of desired conversion/ratio; you can aim for 300ppi on a certain image by choosing the size you want and then making sure you have a pixel count that will give you that ratio. The formula for calculating this is: Pixels/inches = ppi (pixels per inch) OR pixels = ppi*inches So, for a 5"x7" photo that you want printed/displayed at 300ppi, you would need pixel dimensions of width: 300*7 = 2100px height: 300*5 = 1500px If you are interested, you can read more about PPI/DPI here: http://www.rideau-info.com/photos/mythdpi.html (In your case, if you want a 60-inch wide image printed at 300 dpi, then you will need a base image file that is at least 300*60 = 18k pixels wide) Hope this helps!

    No filters 150

Hi Vepsik! Sorry about this--we're not sure why your other computer doesn't have the 150 filters auto-installed. Which filters are missing from the second installation? You can get the entire CameraBag Photo v3.0 default filter set here: CameraBag Photo v3.0 Default Presets And if you are looking for the filters from v2.x, you can download them from the v2.x resource page here: http://nevercenter.com/camerabag/photo/v_2/ This video on YouTube explains how to add in downloaded filters: Hope this helps!
  23. Thanks for the suggestion! We will take a look and see what that would entail.

    Could not Load a Photo

Out of curiosity, if you download the latest update (v3.0.1) do the å, ä, ö characters work for you again? http://www.nevercenter.com/download/CameraBag_Photo_Win_3_0_1.zip
  25. That is possible. At the moment we don't have it set up for that, but we can take a look.
