How did you get interested in 3D art? What do you enjoy about it?
I think its a mixture of my passion for drawing and video games lead me to 3D Art. I started with 3ds Max in 2003 and tried almost all the 3D packages at that time to explore my interests in computer graphics. I was always drawn to character modeling which I still love to do; I enjoy sculpting realistic and fantasy creatures/monsters with good anatomy.
What is your typical modeling workflow? What techniques do you favor?
I always start my model in Silo; the blocking and posing (if required) is always done here, I subdivide the model to a medium resolution to sculpt the form, and then I take it to ZBrush/Mudbox for more detailing. Once the detailing is done I take it back to Silo to retopo for animation. I keep experimenting with new techniques as and when things change.
How long have you been using Silo, and how did you get interested in it?
I have been using Silo for around 4 years. I was looking for better modeling software than Maya and was experimenting with all the software at that time; Silo was like love at first sight--my speed actually doubled when I started working in Silo.
What do you like about Silo?
Lots of things--simple interface, straightforward modeling tools, customization (especially mouse customizing), sculpting tools for quick blocking and posing, and Silo's community which is always there to help you.
What Studios have you worked with? What types of projects have you worked on?
I started off in a game studio and then I moved on to film. I'm currently working at Rhythm and Hues India.
