Silo and Milo 2025.0 are here!

With this update, we’ve brought modifiers into Milo! You can now see modifiers in Milo simply by saving the file in .sib file from Silo, so you no longer need to bake modifiers to render them.

We’ve also added a user-requested new UV generation type to Silo: Viewport projection. You can project UVs from any of the orthographic or perspective viewports, applied either to selected faces or a whole object.

Finally, we spent time for this release focusing specifically on bug fixes and stability improvements based on user feedback, listed below. Happy modeling!

Silo 2023.4 is here!

We focused on bugs and optimizations for this release, but did add one very handy new function: New Window. This new command at the top of the File menu will open a second (or third or fourth) instance of Silo, allowing you to work on multiple models at the same time. We also greatly improved the speed of loading complex FBX files, along with the collection of bug fixes and improvements listed below. Give it a spin and let us know what you think!

We added tons of new features to Silo & Milo in 2022, and many more are coming in 2023!

2022 brought a truly remarkable number of new features and improvements to both Silo and its companion renderer, Milo. Silo saw the incorporation of Pixar’s OpenSubdiv to power its subdivision, built-in screen recording, a powerful implementation of non-destructive shape modifiers, and tons more. We’re excited to announce the release of Silo 2023, which includes a MAJOR new feature: non-destructive modifiers!

Modifiers allow you to apply all sorts of useful operations to your models that you can always go back and tweak after the fact, and that automatically update as you make further edits to your model. Bevels, extrusions, edge creasing, triangulation, deformations, and more are included in our initial set of modifiers, with many many more to come. Grab the update and check out the video below!
