Thought we'd put a post here to keep you all updated. :) We've been working on some fun things!

Pixelmash v1.1.0 is Released!

Dear Friends of Pixelmash,

We’re happy to announce that Pixelmash 1.1 has been released, and is a free update for everyone who has purchased Pixelmash! Get the update wherever you purchased Pixelmash originally: via the Mac App Store, Steam, or the Nevercenter website. Additionally, the trial period has been reset for those who have not yet purchased.

This is a gigantic update. Some of the new features in Pixelmash 1.1 include:
  • Completely rewritten keyframe-based animation system
  • Easy option for per-frame images on any layer, for hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation
  • New preview window to see your animation running while you work on a frame (also great for 1:1 or 2:1 previews on stills)
  • Animated components are now chosen per-layer rather than per-project
  • Easier access to creating layers at the document’s pixelized resolution
  • Layers now display their native resolution in the layers window
  • New onion skin options for coloring and number of frames
  • Dramatically increased performance when drawing with onion skinning
  • Improved resolution baking options

Pixelmash 1.1.00 Feature Preview - Major Animation Update!

This update to Pixelmash, coming soon, includes a major rewrite of the animation system to allow for keyframes and easy hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation, including a new handy preview window, speed improvements, and improved onion skinning! If you'd like to join the advance Pixelmash beta team, please send us your info and some samples of your pixel artwork (it doesn't have to be made in Pixelmash, we're looking for any pixel artists) at pixelmash@nevercenter.com. Pixelmash 1.0.20 released – major new features including custom pivots/character rigging support!

Hi everyone, Pixelmash updates are coming fast and furious and we've just set live a new update (version 1.0.20) that includes some very powerful new features that people have requested. Custom layer pivots even let you essentially create rigged(!) pixel art characters!

Also, here's a list of the main new features:
  • Layers can now have custom pivots by dragging the center handle in the transform tool - using parented layers you can now make fully rigged pixel art characters
  • Added ability to export selected layer only (trimmed to layer bounds)
  • Repeat layer effect added
  • Color dropper tool now ignores grid lines and other interface elements
  • Added Coloring Style option to Colorize layer effect
  • Additional bug fixes and speed improvements

Grab the update wherever you purchased Pixelmash originally (nevercenter.com, Steam, the Mac App Store). Be sure to use the Send Feedback option in the Help menu in the app to tell us what to add/improve/fix next!

We’re delighted to announce that our new resolution-independent pixel art editor, Pixelmash, is out of beta and now released (version 1.0.01)!

Pixelmash brings a whole new approach to pixel art by letting you paint or import high-resolution images, then non-destructively pixelize and apply other layer effects to turn it into amazing pixel art. This lets you do *really* cool things, such as:
  • Create animations using layer transforms (rather than having to paint every frame pixel-by-pixel)
  • Make outlines, shading, and dithering easily adjustable by having them applied non-destructively as layer effects
  • Easily create different resolutions and color variants of the same image
  • Convert photos or other hi-res artwork into pixel art using layer effects and the resolution slider
  • And much more!
